CTD Weekly Workshops for Spring 2014


The Center for Teaching Development is pleased to announce our Spring 2014 schedule Teaching and Learning Weekly workshops, every Wednesday at 12:00 – 12:50 pm. These workshops are free of charge. Feel free to bring your lunch – we’ll provide beverages and treats.

This Quarter, you can learn about

* how people learn (and the foundation for our teaching and learning workshops)
* a 3-part series on course design covering learning outcomes, evidence-based instructional strategies, and assessment that supports learning
* a 2-workshop series on peer instruction with clickers: writing good peer instruction questions and best practices for running peer instruction
* getting feedback from your students
* what to do on the first day of classes to motivate learning, set expectations and make each student feel welcome
* writing a successful teaching statement

New York City Summer Data Science Bootcamp

The Data Incubator is an intensive six-week bootcamp that prepares postdocs and PhDs in STEM + social science fields seeking industry careers as data scientists. It identifies fellows who already have the 90% difficult-to-learn skills and equips them with the last 10%: the tools and technology stack that make them self-sufficient, strong, productive contributors. The program is free and housing support is available.
