2014-15 M.S. Graduate Intern at UCSD OGS

The Office of Graduate Studies is seeking a Graduate Student Intern  for Fall 2014, Winter 2015 and Spring 2015 Quarter .  This position will work with the OGS Student Affairs unit to support graduate student programming and communication.  The appointment is funded by OGS and provides tuition/fee remission.  The intern position will be supported at home academic department GSR step level.

Duties will include the following:

Develop and maintain tools of communication with the graduate community: the weekly grad life email to the all-grad list serve, and the graduate life website.

  • Act as the liaison between OGS and the Graduate Student Association by attending the bi-weekly GSA meetings and OGS Cabinet Meetings.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and coordination of graduate program activities including, diversity dinners, workshops, faculty seminars, the interdisciplinary research celebration, and new graduate student orientation

This position will help to create a greater sense of community among graduate students from the various academic departments at UCSD.  Some experience with web development is desirable, however OGS staff will be available to train.  Interested candidates must have an interest in helping foster improved graduate student life at UCSD.  The candidate should have

Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating events.
