Cornell University is seeking candidates for the position of Director, Cooperative Education and Career Services in the College of Engineering.

The Director of Cooperative Education and Career Services provides leadership for a dynamic team of motivated and experienced professionals engaged in all aspects of career development of engineering undergraduate and graduate students at all stages of their education.

Reporting to both the Assistant Dean in the College and the Executive Director of Cornell Career Services (CCS), the Director works in partnership with academic departments, CCS and other Student Services offices in the College and at the University. The Director represents the College of Engineering to key constituents including employers, graduate schools, alumni, and parents.

The successful candidate will have a proven record in strategic planning, recruitment and relationship building with a diverse set of employers, advising students on career exploration and job searches, data and trend analysis and assessment, and the creative use of technology in communication and marketing efforts.

The position requires a skilled professional with the ability to communicate and maintain relationships with multiple, high-level stakeholders vital to the success of the College and the University. The Director of Co-op and Career Services plays an integral role within the College’s team of Student Services Directors and the University’s Career Services staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in career services or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with engineering and technical career fields strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and management skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated track record of accomplishment as a leader.
  • Organized and detail-driven; strong inter-personal and relationship building skills; good public speaker who can effectively represent Engineering to a variety of audiences.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Proven ability to work in a team context and to set priorities, manage competing demands and provide a timely response to urgent issues.
  • Ability to sustain ethical workplace practices and confidentiality.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage competing demands.
