4. Center for Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) – Online courses

This fall, CIRTL is offering five online courses, each focusing on a different aspect of inclusive, evidence-based pedagogy. Course registration opens next Monday, August 1 at 11AM Central Time. Read below for more course details, and look for another newsletter on Monday morning with registration instructions.
CIRTL is also offering five workshops and four drop-in event series this fall. Workshops will open for registration one month before they take place. Events – including CIRTLCasts, our CIRTL Reads Journal Club, the Teaching in the US series, and our Teaching-as-Research Capstone series – will not require registration. 5. UC San Diego Global Health Institute Grant Awards


The multi-disciplinary University of California, San Diego’s Global
Health Institute (GHI), headed by Steffanie Strathdee, Ph.D., Associate
Dean of Global Health Sciences at UCSD’s School of Medicine, and
Co-Directors Dr. Thomas Csordas, Director of the Global Health Program,
and Dr. Joshua Graff Zivin Associate Dean of School of Global Policy
and Strategy, has awarded approximately $200K for 19 grant funds to
5 faculty and 3 international PIs, 4 undergraduates, 3 graduates, and
9 pre- and postdocs across various campus departments and involving
9 different countries. Global health activities funded for the grant
cycle include international field experience for students, internships,
global health conferences, and seed funding for research projects and
flagship sites in developing country settings for medical students and

These grants will enable UC San Diego to strengthen the international
component of many of our research and training programs. It is among our
