Reminder: Summer Graduate Teaching Scholars Opportunity (Deadline: Sunday, October 30th)

We are excited to announce that our department will once again be participating in the Summer Graduate Teaching Scholar (SGTS) program. The department will select one advanced graduate student to teach a 2017 Summer Session course.  This is a tremendous opportunity for anyone who is considering an academic career and wishes to have a mentored teaching experience.  Additional details about the SGTS program can be found here:  http://academicaffairs.ucsd.edu/ug-ed/sgts/.

Please note that eligibility criteria for Teaching Scholars include: (1) Advancement to candidacy by January 4, 2017; (2) Full-time graduate student status; nominees may not be scheduled to receive their Ph.D. prior to the Summer Session teaching appointment; and (3) Successful completion of the CET course “Teaching + Learning at the College Level”.

If you are interested in being considered for this opportunity, please email Jeanine Sun (jesun@ucsd.edu) by Sunday, October 30th  with the following materials: (1) CV, (2) statement of interest (limited to 1-2 pages), (3) brief summary of your qualifications, and (4) letter of support from your faculty advisor. Only those graduate students who meet the eligibility criteria and have obtained the consent of their research advisor will be considered.
