The Research Scientist oversees science and education for the company. As the first scientist into an exciting young company, this person will help establish testing processes, support the sales and marketing efforts and contribute to the growth of our business in the cell culture market. This individual is responsible for executing the science plan and will have to do everything from contribute to the strategy, interact with customers when questions arise and characterize and publish product performance. We are looking for a proven performer who is process oriented, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills and has experience in the cell culture space. This position will report to the CEO.

Fully characterize our product
• Develop all lab protocols.
• Set up a fully functioning cell culture lab including specifying equipment
• Begin testing our product under a variety of conditions and against various cell lines

Publish information on our products and use
• On a regular interval publish customer relevant product and process information
• Nurture an online presence focused on scientific research and analysis related to FBS and other cell media
• Measure and manage performance to insure department goals are exceeded

Create a database of our product characterization information
• Work with team to understand data elements and structure
• Create robust process for data collection
• Analyze data and make recommendations

Follow a structured research and development process for defined media
• Look at current products and target cell lines
• Identify candidate platforms and options
• Work with team to develop and execute development plan

Participate in company direction:
• Be an active member of the team
• Report out weekly on progress on your efforts
• Participate in strategy and quarterly planning meetings

BS/BA and Masters in Cell Biology/Chemistry degree or related field required. PhD a plus.

Requires 5 years experience as a Cell Biologist.
Prior experience managing a lab a plus

Proven lab and cell culture experience
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain productive working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including customers, peers and Company management
Strong attention to detail
Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with Company guidelines
Strong process mindset

Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives

Ability to hear and speak to employees and outside business associates on the phone and in person.
Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)

May require travel to and from Nucleus Biologics offices or customer/vendor locations
