March For Science – Saturday, April 22

Faculty, Students, Staff and Friends of the Division,

This Saturday scientists, teachers, students and others in more than 400 cities around the world will join in the March for Science, a non-partisan event designed to show support for the important role science plays in our society and in improving our daily lives.

The San Diego March for Science will start at 10am on April 22 in downtown San Diego at Civic Center Plaza at 1200 Third Avenue (details at: http://marchforsciencesd.com/). It will be a family-friendly event that, local organizers hope, will build awareness for the importance of science in society and highlight the San Diego region’s leadership in the sciences as well as the role we play in improving health, the environment and our economy.

I encourage you to attend and to show your support for science, particularly, for basic research in chemistry, mathematics and physics. If you do, we’ve love to follow your posts on social media, so please consider using the hashtags #ScienceMarch #ucsdphysicalsciences and @UCSDPhySci

Thank you
