Society for Undergraduate Mathematics Students (SUMS)

The Society for Undergraduate Mathematics Students (SUMS) is a newly formed student organization that aims to promote the exploration of extracurricular Mathematics. We host a variety of math-related events, such as informative and technical talks, workshops that teach professional skills, and social events that promote and foster interdisciplinary relationships.

Since Mathematics is such a vast area of study and is closely related to many other fields, we would like to reach out and extend an open invitation to students and faculty in your department to attend any of these events and get involved in club activities. Going forward, we hope that these will help serve as a bridge between departments, ultimately leading to an increase in these kinds of interdisciplinary events here on campus.

If you are interested, you can find out more by visiting our website at You can also subscribe to our mailing list at, through which we post regular updates.

Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you at future events!

Zack Garza (pure mathematics and computer science), President
Aiden Yoon (mathematics), Vice President and Treasurer
Keenan Chan (mathematics), Publicity Chair
Simon Hu (electrical engineering), Secretary and Logistics
Peter Amidon (computer science), Technology Coordinator
