Splash UC San Diego on Saturday, May 12

The Outreach Committee of the Triton Engineering Student Council is looking for volunteers to teach at Splash UC San Diego on Saturday, May 12h from 9:00AM to 4:00pm. Splash is an event held by UC San Diego students that brings high schoolers to  campus for a day full of learning and engagement. We are trying to reach out to as many undergraduates, graduates, as well as professors to become teachers for this event! Classes are usually 50 minutes long and you can choose to teach as many as you’d like. Teachers are allowed to teach any subject they wish and are even encouraged to teach around a subject that they are passionate about! Previous classes includes Introduction to Filmic Techniques, Digital Logic, and even Beginner Yoga!

Student Research Seminar

Hi grad students!

Join SWIGS and CGSC next week for our winter quarter Student Research Seminar! Featuring short talks by five of your fellow department grads, this one-hour seminar will allow grad student presenters to hone their general-audience speaking skills. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear an overview of some of the fascinating research going on in other subdivisions that may not normally be on your radar.

This seminar will be held next Wednesday, February 28th from 10:00AM-11:00PM in the NSB Auditorium.  Coffee and refreshments will be provided, and we encourage attendees to fill out ‘feedback’ forms (provided at the seminar) to help the student presenters hone their skills.

This quarter, our speakers were chosen by an open nomination process. If you think you may be interested in participating in future seminars, attend this event to see what it’s like! Students can be nominated by themselves, by other students, or by faculty members. One student from each of five subdivisions will present in each seminar.

Check out the attached flyer to see our amazing lineup of student speakers!

See you there!
