Annual Stipend: $23,844, plus $2,000 in project support

Eligibility:

  • Doctoral student who seeks research training with a sponsor prior to embarking upon a research career.
  • Must be a full-time student working towards his/her degree.
  • Have completed initial coursework and be at the stage of the program where he/she can devote full-time effort to research or activities related to the development into an independent researcher or a related career aimed at improving global cardiovascular health.

Citizenship Requirements:

  • S. citizen
  • Permanent resident
  • Pending permanent resident (any resident who has an approved I-765 form and has submitted an I-485 application with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services)
  • Eligible Visa status: E-3, H1-B, F-1, J-1, O-1, TN, G-4

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion TA Training Program at UCSD – October 9th-13th

Please see below for information on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) TA training program at UCSD:

The program will take place from October 9th – October 13th. The 5-day workshop series trains TA’s in inclusive teaching practices and will prepare TA’s to promote diversity and equity through their interpersonal interactions, research, and pedagogy. The schedule for the training series is as follows:

   Monday, October 9th: The Brain Science of Implicit Bias

   Tuesday, October 10th: The Art of Inclusive Communication

   Wednesday, October 11th: Inclusive Teaching Strategies

   Thursday, October 12th: Diversity in Academia

   Friday, October 13th: Community Praxis

Each workshop will be offered twice daily, from 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm in the Vera Cruz / Dolores Huerta room in the old Student Center.

Registration is limited. Graduate students who will TA in the

2017-2018 academic year will be given priority. To register, TA’s should email alexiaarani@gmail.com with subject line “TA Training Registration” and include in the body of the email: Name, Department, whether they will TA in the 2017-2018 academic year, and how many years they have worked as a TA. We ask that graduate students please commit to attending the entire training series so as to maximize the impact of the training.
