CHEMISTRY 87: FRESHMAN SEMINAR
Preparing for Undergraduate Research in Chemistry
Spring 2012
Thursdays, 4‐4:50 PM, 4501 Pacific Hall

Why should I get involved in research?
What undergraduate research opportunities are available to me?
How do I select a research area/focus and a potential research mentor?
How should I inquire about a volunteer/for‐credit/paid position in a lab?
What if I don’t have prior research experience?

If you would like the answer to these questions and more about undergraduate
research, you are encouraged to enroll in Chemistry 87!

The course will include seminars on current and cutting‐edge research by
Chemistry and Biochemistry Faculty, information sessions on campus programs
and resources, a tour of departmental research facilities and laboratories, and a
(optional) field trip to local industry.
