Prospective FOCUS FELLOWS 2013 Participants

 

Attention: Underrepresented Chemistry & Biochemistry

                                        POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS, PhD GRADUATES, or soon to be graduates!

 

You are invited to apply as a prospective FOCUS FELLOWS participant in FOCUS 2013.  The program will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Tech, January 17-20, 2013, and is one of the nation’s premier programs for raising the awareness of the importance of diversity among faculty in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

 

Even though the program is open to all students, the goal of the FOCUS FELLOWS program is to attract the best and brightest underrepresented minority STEM Postdoctoral Fellows and PhD graduates (or soon to be graduates) and encourage them to pursue faculty positions in academia. This career-development weekend provides selected fellows an opportunity to attend workshops on “Obtaining Academic Positions in Research Institutions”, to network with Georgia Tech faculty who share similar research interests, and to investigate the opportunities available at Georgia Tech. This visit is not an interview, but rather an exploratory visit.

All travel and lodging expenses will be covered for participants selected as Focus Fellows.

Eligibility:

• PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry completed (or to be completed within 18 months)

• OR currently a Postdoctoral Fellow

Required Documents that must be submitted (via email):
• A CV
• A letter of recommendation from your thesis advisor or postdoctoral adviser

• A career development plan (two page maximum). The career development plan should include  a summary of your research activities (past and current) and a description of your proposed career goals.
